limited artist edition 2021 – with artist José Parra
the artwork “Catrina de velas”
José Parra’s artwork captures the essence of Mexico’s Day of the Dead through the iconic Calavera Catrina. As people don’t see Catrina’s skull face, Parra’s artwork suggests a deeper mystery. Is it a celebration or a poignant reflection? Behind the elegant costume, the real Catrina may be contemplating the lives of her guests, each represented by a flickering candle. Only Parra, born in Guadalajara, holds the answer to this mesmerizing portrayal.
